Four European Community directives require the EU Member States to provide for a certain minimum standard ensuring protection against discrimination for reasons relating to racial or ethnic origin, sex, religion or belief, disability, age or sexual orientation. The main focus of these directives is on employment and occupation and their implementation has thus had a great impact on national employment law within the EU Member States.
The Employers' Guideline of the CMS Employment & Pensions Group summarises from a multi-national employer's point of view the substantial framework of anti-discrimination laws implementing these EU directives in Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, The Czech Republic, England, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania and Spain, as well as the principles of anti-discrimination laws of Russia and Switzerland which have been enacted independently from the EU directives.
Furthermore, the Employers' Guideline provides recommendations for Business Practices.
