Cecilia van der Weijden is a member of our firm’s Corporate practice group. She has a strong focus on the energy sector and has advised on a wide variety of corporate and regulatory issues in this sector, including mergers and acquisitions, reorganizations and privatizations. In addition, she has extensive experience advising on energy related projects and project financings, where she acts for sponsors/project companies and lenders on conventional power plants and renewable projects. She also specializes in renewable energy, energy trading and CO2 emission rights. Her recent experience includes a number of pathfinder projects.
Recent Cases:
- Advising a large international energy company on the controlled auction by AES of 50% of the equity in the Elsta power plant.
- Advising an international energy company on its participation in the first Dutch LNG regasification terminal. This terminal (the GATE terminal) is being developed by Gasunie and Vopak.
- Advising Dutch energy company DELTA on the development of a 870 MW CCGT power plant located in the Sloe area in the province of Zeeland. The plant is a joint venture between DELTA and EDF.
- Advising a large multinational on the Heat Act.
- Advising Shell and NUON in connection with the construction of the first offshore wind farm in the Netherlands.
- Advising a Dutch utility on the development of a biomass plant.
- Advising the trading subsidiary of one of the large Dutch energy companies on the purchase of Certified Emission Reductions (CER’s) under the Clean Development Mechanism.
- Advising several national and international parties on EFET, ISDA and ENDEX agreements.
- Advising sponsors and financial institutions in relation to the development of several onshore wind farms in the Netherlands.
- Litigation on behalf of several utility companies in respect of the consequences of the introduction of the MEP subsidy under PPA's for windenergy.
